Zema is a special Amharic word meaning a few things: melody,sacred song (in the Orthodox tradition). We chose this with care to honor the deep connection with music most of our team and partners have, and to represent proudly:THE SONG OF ETHIOPIA.
This particular batch of Zema Natural is a single farm, single harvest version with a total of 707 bags. It was created for Swift Coffee Sourcing. They have worked with Dinkalem, the producer, and with his Bita farm, since 2017 and have seen great consistency from him over the years.
Dinkalem and his Sofiya are a couple dedicated to helping their communities in everyway. His farm is around 400 hectares of land, most of which is richly blanketed with famous Keffa forests. Around 40 hectares are planted with coffee, a mix of new and old trees. Dinkalem’s plan is to provide stewardship of the farm, slowly replacing the old trees with the new ones–of the 400 hectares of mostly forested land, currently around 40 hectares are planted with coffee (including some of the “Wush Wush” variety), and to have a robust out grower’s program that brings economic advantages to his neighbors and friends.
